Sitting at the bar

While sitting at the corner of a bar,
Looking at the mirror seeing a past full of scar,
Gulping whiskey to get thoughts and reality at par,
Lost among strangers while surviving the brutality of a never ending internal war.

He asks the bartender for another drink,
Maybe this might help him think.
Consciously trying to figure out the reason why he was at this place,
When he spot her dressed in satin and white lace.

He skipped a heartbeat,
And perspires as if there was tremendous heat.
He tried to get up to talk,
But he trembled and fumbled before he could even walk.
She looked at him with a smile on her face
Before she walked out and left with complete grace.

He continued sitting at the corner of the bar,
Looking at the mirror spikes a strand of his hair.
Gulping whiskey to get his excitement and reality at par,
Lost among the drunkards, he felt like a lone star.
